Who We Are
Education at Work is a non-profit organization helping to address the unemployment crisis in the U.S. (more) We are dedicated to helping America's next generation workforce acquire the foundational job skills and education they need to compete for today's "knowledge jobs", which require strong critical thinking and analytical skills. We do this by employing college students, currently enrolled at accredited U.S. universities or colleges, to perform outsourced call center customer and back office service work for U.S. corporations. We reward our employees through a combination of competitive base wage compensation, tuition assistance and real world experience.
What We Do
We provide entry-level service positions that teach "foundational" job skills like time management, communication, collaboration, problem solving and critical thinking. (more) Based on a combination of academic and job performance, our student-employees are eligible for different tiers of tuition assistance from Education at Work. The combination of a base wage and tuition assistance enables students to earn enough money to effectively cover a large portion of their educational cost. Once these students complete their individual degrees, Education at Work collaborates with our client-partners to help place them into entry-level full-time professional positions within their organizations.
Our Approach
We create demand for our services and the ability to bring jobs back onshore by offering them at rates competitive with those that are charged in the Philippines and other offshore markets. (more) The difference? We perform these services within a high-quality U.S.-based environment. Through delivering a high-value, low-cost environment for our clients, we have created a long term self-sustaining business model. This allows us to make progress toward our mission by continually extending the opportunity to self-fund the majority of the cost of college degrees to more students.
Education at Work enjoys strong partnerships based on our better than offshore quality results and low rate structure, we deliver the best overall value in the U.S. customer care market. As a result, this continues to enable us to attract more client companies, which in turn allows us to employ more students, and fund more tuition assistance. Education at Work enjoys strong partnerships with the colleges and universities in the local markets in which we operate, which enables us to better engage their student populations. This makes tuition assistance more readily available to students in need and provides us with unprecedented access to high-quality employment candidates for our client programs.
Approximately 25 million Americans are unemployed or under-employed, while an estimated 3 million jobs are available, yet remain unfilled. Unemployment in the U.S. is particularly acute among our young people who increasingly lack many of the basic job skills or education needed to compete for 21st Century jobs.
Approximately 1 million valuable customer service jobs have moved off-shored in the past 10 years. American corporations have increasingly demonstrated a strong desire to bring these lost jobs back to the U.S., but still need a way to do so in a cost effective way.
